Minding Rights is an international research network on fundamental rights and emerging technologies.
New technologies create valuable opportunities for healthcare, communication, education, and many other areas of life. Think of apps that track one’s activities and physical parameters, virtual reality to train surgeons, and deep brain stimulation to treat Parkinson’s disease symptoms. Yet, the possibilities opened up by these technologies also call for caution, in particular with respect to fundamental rights, such as the right to privacy, respect for autonomy and for mental integrity. This international network brings together scholars who – from a variety of disciplines – work at the intersection of fundamental rights and emerging technologies. Our network aims to contribute to collaborative initiatives and to provide a resource of academic and policy publications and output for a wider audience.
